Learn Swedish - WordPower App Reviews

Good only as a simple dicitionary

There are only words, no phrases. Verbs are only infinitives. Att vara - but no indication that it is not used in such a way. Good if you learn grammar somewhere else.

not worth it

It could have been a wonderful app. But its quite evident it has been developed really in a hurry without looking to much to the quality. Lets take for example the Modal Verbs words group: it counts 12 words. But.. the verb should is repeated 3 times (with the same translation, its not a language difference), and in the same group. Youll find for example the word "unneccesary", which stands for unnecessary and its not a verb. The entire application is filled with those errors. The only really good point is the pronunciation (but can we trust it?). Personally i would (and i think to do it) pass it and go for a good flash card app, building your own flash cards.

Almost there!!

I am a linguist and this program did help me with memorizing words. However, it would have gotten a full 5 stars if it included the definite an indefinite articles, because whats the point of knowing a word if you cant say "the" or "a" in front of it? Also a tutorial of simple grammar would have pushed this app over the top. All of this is completely doable, I hope a future update brings these changes.

No articles

I wish the app gave the articles to the nouns. Its necessary to know if a noun is common or neuter in order to conjugate it. Please update.

With next update it could be perfect

Great app, very user friendly. Love the flashcards and that I can keep score of my progress. I noticed, though, that some of the words repeat within the same category or in other ones. Please fix this little flaw.

Crap

I bought it once the all of a sudden it disappeared and I had to buy it again

Good value

I bought this in sale and backed it up so I wont lose it. I would like to request flash cards for the alphabet in Oder.

Wonderful App

This was well worth the $10. It is a great study aid, and the ability to hear, read, and see a picture of the word helps immensely. Ive only studied Swedish for three months, and I am well on my way to fluency due to this app. Bravo!

Problem with nouns

WordPower’s great strengths are that you can hear a native speaker say the word and that there are sample sentances so you can learn how the work is used. BUT it has one very large mistake. In Sweidh nouns belong to one of two genders - common for the en form or neuter for the ett form - which also determine the declension of adjectives. For example; a car (en bil), a house, (ett hus). But in WordPower they are mostly wrong an most of the nouns state that they are neutral when, in fact, about ¾ are common. This is serious because the gender must be learned along with the noun. No Swedish native speaker will misunderstand you when you use the wrong gender but they will certainly know that you “aren’t from Sweden”.

Good app.

Not worth $10

I was disappointed with this app. For $10 I expected it to give me some grammar rules. I was so annoyed that app wanted me to sign up for swedishpodcast101 lesson plans. After doing it, everyday I kept get emails about lesson plans of the day. The positive is thing about the app is words are pronounced for you. Not worth $10, maybe $2.

Good, but not great

Lots of vocab, grouped by topic. Native speakers so you can learn how to pronounce "sju" correctly. No grammar rules, no verb conjugation rules.

Love it!

Love how it reads to you in a normal voice, not a robot. The sample sentences are helpful and I think the flash cards are awesome the way theyre set up. Some grammar tips and how to use them correctly in a sentence would be nice too, but I think this is a really nice app.

Great language learning app

This is a great vocabulary app. Much more than a list of travel words and basics, this has very well organized lists of useful words
